a deviation

Sometimes, you like a story, but the pictures don't move you.
They may be pretty, there may not be anything wrong with them. They are aesthetically  VERY good. Yet, without  an emotional connection...

I wonder whether what I am doing is all right. This place was supposed to be for sharing images I like, and not the opposite. Here is the thing. If we assume, that the text is only half of a book, and the images are the other half, when an emotionally charged and meaningful story has been illustrated in a decorative/non emotional way, it is rather sad. It seems like one half of a potentially great thing is missing.
