Jude Daly

I am a fan of the work of Jude Daly.
The followig images are from a book called : The Dove
Written by Dianne Stewart, and illustrated by Jude Daly

And these three images, come from a book named Ghost Catcher
By Dennis Haseley
Illustrated by Lloyd Bloom
I hesitated whether to include them, but there is something captivating about them, so here they are.

... 'some of them thought he was silly'...

This was because brother Juniper was often naked.

There he is naked again. A bit camouflaged, but naked!

So funny. So amusing.

You probably won't believe me, that I did not pay any attention to the 3 medals on the cover. I just read the book, and liked it very much. The writing is wonderful. So minimal, but perfectly transporting us into the experience through the dialogue. And I liked the images and text blend too. Then I looked at the cover, and saw the awards,...but I am sharing it anyway.

It is interesting to see how much I am breaking my rules for this blog. It is fun to watch where my impulses take me to.

children's books punk

He got the bigger piece. I was first. He started it. It’s not fair.

All parents are familiar with sentences like these.  I also get to deal with it day after day, and this picture book represents the difficulty of it very well. So, I am sharing it. Hopefully the questions we are asking now, as we lie in bed are not still of the same nature.

a deviation

Sometimes, you like a story, but the pictures don't move you.
They may be pretty, there may not be anything wrong with them. They are aesthetically  VERY good. Yet, without  an emotional connection...

I wonder whether what I am doing is all right. This place was supposed to be for sharing images I like, and not the opposite. Here is the thing. If we assume, that the text is only half of a book, and the images are the other half, when an emotionally charged and meaningful story has been illustrated in a decorative/non emotional way, it is rather sad. It seems like one half of a potentially great thing is missing.
